Founded in 1882, Dante Studies is the premier journal devoted to Dante in the English-speaking world.
Access to Dante Studies is a primary benefit of membership in the Dante Society. Current members receive both print copies and electronic access to current and recent issues.
Dante Studies accepts submissions in English or Italian on subjects connected with Dante's life, works, influence, and critical reception. We welcome all methodological and theoretical approaches. Please send submissions by e-mail attachment in Word format to dantestudies@gmail.com. Submissions should follow the Dante Studies style guide, and should be no longer than 10,000 words.
Dante Studies follows a policy of double-blind review of all submissions. Authors should avoid self-references on the title page and in both the argument and the endnotes. Submissions will normally be reviewed by members of the Editorial Board within four to six weeks of receipt. Due to the ongoing challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic, the peer review timeline may undergo additional delays in response to adjustments in the personal and professional lives of readers. Authors should be in touch with the editorial assistant with any questions or to request additional time for submissions.
The Editorial Board of Dante Studies is not presently accepting essays for review. Submissions for volume 143/2025 will open in spring 2025. The latest issue published is 2023 (Vol. 141).
